Did you know that overweight men have a much higher early mortality rate than overweight women not only because of gender, but because they carry the majority of their fat in the belly, as opposed to women who usually carry it in their buttocks and thighs? This placement of fat puts more strain on the heart to deliver blood to the rest of the body. It’s true. According to a study, conducted by the Center for Human Nutrition at Washington University School of Medicine, midsection fat is especially dangerous and increases your risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease and certain types of cancer,
Did you also know that if you’re overweight and a meat eater, the majority of fat you’re carrying around isn’t yours? That’s right, it’s animal fat. That means it’s not even of your own DNA.
There is currently an obesity epidemic in America; every third person is obese. Millions of people are searching for role models for their health and fitness goals, and most look to the stars of the entertainment industry. Sure, there are some overweight and obese actors and athletes, especially in places like in the NFL and the UFC, but the majority of athletes and actors have fabulous figures. Many of them have achieved their fitness goals by partaking in a healthy lifestyle of diet and exercise. Some choose to eat lean meats and a surplus of fruits and veggies, and others have quit eating meat altogether, and for good reason. Let’s take a closer look at who they are and why they have chosen such a lifestyle.
Did you know that fat cells regulate most of your metabolic functions? Are you participating in a massive metabolism meltdown every day? Do you eat dead animals two out of every three meals in a day? FYI: Metabolic syndrome affects 50 million Americans. Are you one of them? Could all that animal fat you’re carrying around be the main cause of your high blood pressure, insulin resistance and bad cholesterol? Think about this for a minute.
Wealthy people, in general, eat the majority of their meals “out,” and the menu is chock full of meat choices, from lamb to fish, and from chicken to turkey, rounding things out with pork and beef. If you’re vegan or vegetarian, the choices are quite limited. In fact, you better be sure to tell the waiter or waitress to leave off the chicken and bacon bits from that big salad, the chicken stock in that bowl of soup, the ground beef in the taco salad, and the charred meat chunks on that shish kabob.
Remember how we just covered the amount of Americans with metabolic syndrome? That number was approximately 50 million. Guess how many Americans get sick every ear from bacteria, viruses and parasites. That’s right – 50 million. Over 100,000 of them will be hospitalized and 3,000 will die. It’s called food poisoning. Salmonella can live in your intestinal tract. Escherichia coli, better known as E. coli, is common in undercooked ground beef and contaminated meat and dairy products that originate from filthy, disgusting confined animal feeding operations (CAFOs).
So, without further adieu, let’s send a shout out to the famous vegans and vegetarians who not only look great, feel great, and are great at what they do, but who will probably outlive 95 percent of Americans who are carrying around a huge hunk of animal fat.
Famous vegetarians include: Tom Brady, Carl Lewis, Rich Roll, Walter “Killer” Kowalski, Martina Navratilova, Bill Pearl, Paul McCartney, Ellen DeGeneres, Natalie Portman, Russell Brand, Pamela Anderson, Brigitte Bardot, Cesar Chavez, Benjamin Franklin, Mohandas Gandhi, Rosa Parks, Thomas Edison, Jane Goodall, Upton Sinclair, George Bernard Shaw, Albert Einstein and Leonardo da Vinci.
Famous vegans include: Alanis Morissette, Alicia Silverstone, Angela Davis, Anthony Kiedis (lead singer of the Chili Peppers), Barry White, Bryan Adams, Carrie Underwood, Casey Affleck, Chrissie Hynde, Coretta Scott King (wife of MLK Jr.), Crispin Glover, Matt Danzig (UFC fighter), Heather Mills, Pat Neshek, and many more.
Did you know one of the greatest fighters in the history of the UFC is heavyweight champion, Randy Couture? Take a look at his picture when you get a chance – yes, he’s vegetarian! So now take a quick look down. Where’s your fat? Is it really “your” fat? More likely than not, you’re carrying around several types of animal carcasses in there. What are you going to do about that? Ready to eliminate the “foods that kill?” Here’s a slogan: If it had eyes or parents, don’t eat it. Ready to drop that last 10 to 20 pounds you just can’t seem to lose? Quit eating meat and see what happens in less than 60 days. Are you a little concerned about where vegetarians and vegans get their protein? Don’t be. Protein powders can help you there. That’s an easy one to solve!
Thomas Edison once said,
The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patient in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.
